Fat has long been feared and avoided in the western diet. However, with new research supporting the health benefits of certain types of fat, the fat fear is finally subsiding. We decided to take a closer look at the different types of fats to see which ones are beneficial for health, and which ones are best to limit in your diet.

The picture below highlights the three different categories of fat: monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, saturated fats, and hydrogenated oils and trans fats. Just about everyone agrees with the health benefits of the fats from foods like fish, avocados, nuts and seeds, and olive oil, but opinions vary when it comes to saturated fats. Saturated fats are common in the paleo diet and include fats from animal products, coconut oil, and butter. So, we want to know: what do you think of saturated fats?
